Medical Boarding for Pets Who Need Extra Care
Leaving your pet can be stressful, especially if they require medication or ongoing medical care. At Evergreen Veterinary Hospital, we offer medical boarding for pets who need additional supervision and support while you are away.
Medical boarding provides professional oversight in a veterinary setting for pets with specific health needs.
What Is Medical Boarding?
Medical boarding is designed for pets who require:
- Daily medications, including oral or injectable treatments
- Management of chronic medical conditions
- Post-surgical monitoring
- Mobility assistance
- Senior pet supervision
- Closer observation due to ongoing health concerns
Your pet stays within our hospital environment, where their care can be monitored by trained veterinary professionals.
How Medical Boarding Is Different
Unlike traditional boarding facilities, medical boarding provides:
- Professional medication administration
- Veterinary oversight
- Monitoring for changes in appetite, behavior, or comfort
- Immediate access to medical care if concerns arise
- Structured routines tailored to your pet’s needs
This level of supervision can be especially important for senior pets or pets with chronic conditions.
What to Expect and Criteria
Medical boarding provides your pet with attentive, individualized care from our veterinary team in a safe, calm, and medically supervised environment. Before your pet’s stay, we’ll complete a thorough check-in to review medications, feeding instructions, daily routines, and any special medical needs.
Medical boarding is available for established Evergreen clients who have been with us for at least six months, with a recent veterinary examination and any recommended lab work. Pets must be current on required vaccines and parasite prevention, and owners should provide their pet’s food, medications, and a reliable emergency contact. If your pet has severe mobility limitations or significant anxiety when away from home, our team may recommend in-home pet sitting as a more appropriate option.
Before your pet’s stay, we will review:
Current medications
Feeding instructions
Medical History
Any specific concerns
Who Benefits from Medical Boarding?
Medical boarding may be appropriate for:
- Pets with diabetes
- Pets with heart disease
- Pets on multiple medications
- Pets recovering from surgery
- Senior pets who require closer monitoring
- Pets with mobility limitations
If your pet requires consistent, skilled care, medical boarding can offer added peace of mind.
